Guanyu Gao 高冠宇

Guanyu Gao is a Professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering at Nanjing University of Science and Technology, which he joined in 2019. He received his Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and stayed on there as a research fellow. Before that he was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a systems engineer at Baidu's Beijing R&D center.

His work sits between multimedia systems and edge computing: how video and inference should be placed, scheduled and adapted across the edge–cloud continuum when bandwidth, latency and energy are all in short supply. The resulting systems — transcoding and caching pipelines, distributed video analytics, federated and continual learning at the edge — are built and measured, not only analyzed.
